Be sure to investigate small collections by seamstresses like me when purchasing those 5 garments! If we continue buying fast fashion for the 5, it perpetrates that industry. Think small! Not long ago all clothing was sewn at home or by small tailor and seamstress shops. We can return to that model. Then the garments are either made for you or easily altered for you. Fantastic fit! Learn the joy of good construction and fine fabrics. Learn to spend money on fine workmanship (workwomanship?) and enjoy knowing you are supporting an artisan.

This is GREAT. Thanks for the tips & love the renewed Prada number, I'm going to do the same with some of my knee length numbers that no longer suit me. Go GO GOOOOOOO TIFFANIE!

Yes, midi is my favourite length no matter the age...timeless chic...and as good with trainers or heels...

Wonderful article, thank you. Mending, repairing, refashioning - these are really core elements of a change towards a more sustainable fashion world. And your dress-to-top refashion is absolutely gorgeous! At Comhla we list The Seam in our Mend section (we have a whole range of brands tackling sustainability from different angles) - they are a great resource - plus we have smaller businesses who embroider beautiful designs to refashion a piece, or creatively upcycle any fabric from Duvet covers to dresses. It is such a fun way of getting a feeling of 'newness' without the negatives.
